How do I book an appointment?

To apply for a new identity card, you must book an appointment online here. You should book one appointment slot for each person aged 6 and over who is applying for a identity card. You should book the appointment using the details of the person applying for an identity card.

What should I bring?

Every applicant must attend the identity card appointment in person and should bring with them: 

  • An eID (electronic identity card) application form, completed and signed (paper copy): DUTCH / FRENCH
    • Children under 12 need a Kids-ID application form instead, completed and signed by both parents/legal guardians (paper copy): DUTCH / FRENCH
  • A plain envelope with a 1st Class stamp on it, addressed to yourself 
  • Your old identity card 
  • A credit/debit card 
  • A prepaid Special Delivery envelope addressed to yourself (only if you wish to receive your new identity card by post)

You should not bring ID photos. We will take a photo at your appointment. 

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent at the appointment. 

How do I pay?

A Kids-ID for children under 12 costs £9 and is valid for 3 years. 

An eID costs £18. From the age of 12, an eID is valid for 6 years. From the age of 18, an eID is valid for 10 years. From the age of 75, an eID is valid for 30 years. 

We will take your card payment during the appointment. We don’t accept American Express.

How do I receive my new identity card?

Your identity card will be ready 4 to 6 weeks after your appointment. 

There are two different ways you can choose to receive your identity card: 

  • BY POST — if you bring an envelope to the appointment, we will send the identity card to you. Sending by post is at your own risk.
  • COLLECTION — you will receive the PUK and PIN/activation codes by post once the identity card is ready for collection. Collection without an appointment is on the ground floor, from 9am to 12 noon on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. You should bring along your codes if you wish to activate your identity card at the same time. If you wish to come at any other time, send an email to londonpassports@diplobel.fed.be with the time you would like to come instead.

If the identity card has not been collected within 3 months, it will be destroyed.
