If you live in the UK, you need to be registered at the Embassy before you can apply for an identity card.

Belgian identity cards are biometric, in accordance with EU regulations. Adults and children aged 6 and over are therefore required to attend an appointment in person to provide their fingerprints, signature (from 12 years old) and photo.

Your Belgian identity card can be used to enter the EU until its expiry date. If you are a Belgian resident in the UK with (pre-)settled status, your Belgian identity card can also be used to enter the UK until 31st December 2025 or its expiry date, whichever is sooner.

Once you have received your new identity card, don’t forget to link it to your UK immigration status/(pre-)settled status. You may need your passport/old identity card number in order to log in to your account, so keep it handy.
